Part 2 - Your Tears Are Cute, But Man Up: We Need Men Who Actually Know God

Go back and read Part 1 first so you can get the full gist.

Intimacy requires relationship.

Some people are more disturbed when they miss church than when they go days without opening their Bible.

That’s a problem.

Because while church is important, it’s that daily time in the Word that actually builds deeper intimacy with God. You can be consistent with church and still be inconsistent with God.

And when religious activity becomes more important to you than actually having a relationship with God, that’s what we call a “religious spirit.”

Church attendance is beautiful and biblical. But church was never designed to replace your personal relationship with God.

Your Tears Are Cute…But Where Is the Obedience?

I’m sorry 😭. But somebody needs to say it.

Your tears are cute.

Cry.

Snot.

Fall on the floor.

Have your moment.

But after you wipe your face…

Are you going to obey?

Because walking with God isn’t measured by how emotional you become in His presence.

Jesus said:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

— John 14:15 NKJV

At some point, conviction must become action. Especially for men who desire to lead families.

We desperately need godly men to rise. Not men who have mastered Christian vocabulary.

We need Men who know God.

  • Men who can discern.

  • Men who can pray.

  • Men who can repent.

  • Men who can admit when they’re wrong.

  • Men who can tell their friends, “I love you, but I cannot keep going where you’re going.”

  • Men whose private lives agree with their public confession.

Because families are suffering partly because people want the fruit of godly leadership without developing the roots required to sustain it.

Let Me Tell You One Last Story

I won’t disclose my source. Mind your business. 😂

A man met a woman. And he loved her deeply.

There was a connection between them that he couldn’t quite explain. But eventually the relationship ended.

Even after the breakup, that connection never completely disappeared.

Eventually he started dating somebody else.

But he couldn’t stop thinking about the first woman.

Things hadn’t ended beautifully.

And considering his history with women…let’s just say my brother had already lived a very colorful life. 😂

So instead of confronting what was really happening inside him, he decided:

I’m tired of relationships. I’ll just settle down with the person I’m currently dating.

Settling because you’re tired, frustrated, embarrassed or concerned about how people perceive you is a recipe for disaster.

The truth.. The problem?

Pride & Fear. He was scared to go back to the first woman. Deep down, he feared he had already ruined his chances with her.

But something changed.

He started genuinely seeking God.

And through that process, he became convinced that the first woman he couldn’t shake wasn’t simply an emotional attachment—she was someone he believed God was leading him back toward as a wife.

But here’s the part that really stood out to me:

They met before either of them had the maturity to carry what the relationship required.

Let’s paint a picture…. Think about an unripe fruit.

It’s real fruit. Nothing fake about it.

But bite into it too early?

SOUR.

Not because the fruit is counterfeit. Because it isn’t ready.

Sometimes something can have potential and still become painful when two people don’t yet have the spiritual maturity, healing, wisdom or capacity required to steward it.

And when neither person is truly walking with God, outside voices become incredibly LOUDER.

  • Family says something.

  • Friends say something.

  • Culture says something.

  • Pride says something.

  • Fear says something.

  • Everybody has advice.

But nobody says:

“Have you prayed?”

“What does Scripture say?”

“Have you sought God before making this decision?”

Listen.

If somebody who claims to love you gives you major life counsel and never points you toward prayer, Scripture or seeking God’s wisdom…

please be careful with that counsel.

Because advice that isn’t submitted to God can easily become emotional advice dressed up as wisdom.

Thankfully, this man began taking his relationship with God seriously before making what he believed could become a destiny-altering mistake.

And what I respect most is this:

He understood that before he could build the mariage he desired, God needed to build him first.

That’ll preach by itself.

He needed to become the right man.

He needed God to deal with his pride.

  • His fears.

  • His history.

  • His patterns.

  • His character.

Because marriage doesn’t magically transform an undisciplined man into a godly husband.

Marriage exposes whatever you refused to deal with while you were single.

So Men…Man Up.

And women—we’re not escaping this conversation either.

Because this generation has produced men and women who claim to know God while consistently living against His Word.

And we’ve normalized it.

That’s the heartbreaking part. We want titles without transformation.

  • Woman of God.

  • Man of God.

  • Prophet.

  • Minister.

  • Lover of Jesus.

Okay.

But forget the title for a second.

Do you actually know God?

Maybe today’s prayer doesn’t need to be deep.

Maybe it simply needs to be honest:

“God, I haven’t prioritized You. I don’t know You as deeply as I’ve convinced myself that I do. I have fed my flesh more than my spirit. I need help. Teach me how to know You.”

That’s a prayer God can work with.

Because pretending keeps you trapped.

You cannot ask for directions while insisting you already know where you’re going.

Jesus said:

“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

— Mark 2:17 NKJV

And Scripture says:

“A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.”

— Psalm 51:17 NKJV

God is not intimidated by your honesty.

Tell Him:

I need help. Then start walking, he will guide you.

  • Separate from environments consistently pulling you away from God.

  • Create intentional time with God—even if you begin with 30 minutes. During that time open your Bible read 2 -3 chapters & Pray..

  • Fast when God leads you.

  • Guard what enters your eyes and ears.

  • Stop entertaining relationships God is telling you to leave.

  • Stop allowing pride to make decisions for you.

  • Stop calling emotional impulses “God.”

Keep going. Ask God for grace to remain consistent.

Because we don’t need another generation of men who sound spiritual.

We need men who have been with God in the secret place.

  • Men whose families can eat from the fruit of their intimacy with Him.

  • Men whose wives don’t have to carry the entire spiritual weight of the home.

  • Men whose children learn prayer because they watched Daddy pray.

  • Men whose children love Scripture because they watched Daddy open his Bible.

  • Men whose sons learn purity because Daddy modeled it.

  • Men whose daughters understand godly love because Daddy demonstrated it.

We need men who walk the talk.

So yes…

Your tears are cute.

But brother?

Get up.

There’s a family structure that needs rebuilding.

There’s a generation coming behind you.

And before you ask God to give you everything you’re praying for…

Become the man who can carry it.
