God Is Not Amazon Prime: Why Our Faith Is Failing Us

What gospel did you hear?
Was it one of those soft and sparkly messages that went something like:
“Jesus loves you! He died for you! He wants to bless you!”
Now, don’t get me wrong—that’s 100% true, every word of it, but that’s not the whole gospel. It’s like telling someone marriage is just romance and candlelight dinners—then leaving out sacrifice, commitment, and late-night diaper duty.
What’s often left out of today’s version of the gospel is the call to repentance, the cost of following Jesus, and the reality of transformation. Jesus calls us to repent. To turn away from our old life. To deny ourselves. To follow Him, not just with words, but with our lives.
And that part? It’s not always popular But it’s what makes the difference between a fan of Jesus and a follower of Jesus.
Today, we’ve marketed Jesus like He’s a feel-good subscription service: just confess, click ‘I believe,’ and boom—your life upgrades instantly! and the results? People are walking around with disappointed faith, jaded hearts, and confusion about who God really is.
Let’s talk about it……
Confession Without Repentance Is a Counterfeit Gospel
Let’s call it out: Modern Christianity has gotten too comfortable with double-living.
We’ve glamorized a double life and somehow made it normal to live it. One life at church, and a whole different story when no one’s watching.
We shout “Man of God! Woman of God!”—but behind closed doors, it’s masturbation, fornication, lying, cheating, spiritual apathy. —and we’re calling it grace.
Let’s be real. We’re living in a delusional Christianity where we expect the blessing but reject the obedience and the standards of God (holiness).
And what’s worse? Today, we don’t seek God for ourselves. We’re depending completely on pastors and YouTube sermons to spoon-feed us the Word. We don’t open our Bibles. Don’t get it twisted—yes, teachers and leaders are important. But you need to know the Word for yourself. Because when false teachers start serving Kool-Aid instead of Living Water, it’s your discernment and the word of God you know (not your emotions) that’ll save you.
Repentance: The Missing Piece
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: A lot of us said “yes” to Jesus but never actually said “no” to our sin.
We want salvation without sanctification.
We want forgiveness without change.
What happened to repentance? What happened to turning away from sin and walking in holiness? Somewhere along the way, we reduced Christianity to just a confession:
“Jesus is savior.”
But confession without transformation is just empty words. Like James said faith without works is dead (James 2:17) aka faith without commitment and action is dead.
You can’t have both Jesus and your sin. They’re not roommates. Jesus and sin can’t coexist in the same heart.
That’s the whole point of the cross—He died to set us free from the very sin we keep cuddling with behind closed doors.
You Can’t Sow Seeds While Living in Sin:
Let’s talk about the seed-sowing thing.
Some of us think we can sow money into a church and boom—miracle unlocked. Breakthrough activated.
We’ve got believers sowing financial seeds, expecting a harvest, but still drowning in unrepentant sin.
Let me be clear: God looks at the vessel before the offering.
If the heart is impure , the seed is corrupt.
David said, “A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)
It’s not about the amount in your envelope, but the posture of your heart.
Don’t try to bribe God with a “seed” when you haven’t fully surrendered your soul.
I’m not saying don’t sow. I’m saying don’t skip repentance and sow seeds for blessing. The vessel is more important than the seed!
God Is King, Not a Magic Lamp
We’ve created this imaginary God who functions like Amazon Prime—two-day shipping, free returns, instant upgrades. We “sow a seed,” name it, claim it, and expect next-day delivery.
“God, I prayed. Where’s my blessing?”
“God, I fasted. Where’s my husband?”
“God, I tithed. Where’s my promotion?”
And when it doesn’t come?
We ghost God.
Stop praying.
Stop going to church.
Start questioning if He’s real.
We’re out. Done. Bitter. Some even walk away from the faith.
But hear me: God is not a genie. He’s a King.
God is not supposed to be working for us. We’re supposed to be living for Him.
Our job isn’t to get Him to fulfill our plans—it’s to surrender to His.
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10
That was the template prayer Jesus gave us. It starts with His will, not our wish list.
Even Jesus—God in the flesh—said, “I only do what the Father tells me to do.” He wasn’t out here living His best life; He was living the Father’s will, even when it cost Him everything.
So if Jesus is our model, why do we think life with God is all about comfort, convenience, and dreams coming true?
Why We Lose Faith
Many are walking away from the faith—not because God failed, but because our expectations were never biblical and not aligned to his will .
We heard a gospel that said:
• God will fix everything.
• You’ll never suffer.
• You’ll get the spouse, the car, the promotion, the dream life.
But the Bible says:
“In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Let that sink in
It’s Time to Rebuild the Foundation
Truth is, many of us started this faith walk with a faulty foundation. We heard some truth—but missed the full picture.
We were handed a feel-good gospel that skipped over repentance, obedience, and discipleship.
An imbalanced gospel is just as dangerous as a false one.
It creates fragile Christians who expect easy lives and quit when trials come. So when life gets tough… when prayers go unanswered… when suffering hits… we think something’s broken. We think God is a scam.
We want the kingdom perks without the kingdom principles.
The truth- the gospel we heard didn’t prepare us for the fire that refines, for the cost of obedience, for the fact that God is more interested in making us holy than making us happy.
We must seek First the Kingdom!
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”(Matthew 6:33)
That spouse? That promotion? That business?
It comes as you pursue the King and His kingdom.
God cares far more about your character than a blessing.
Why? Because blessings without character will crush you.
When God blesses you, it’s not just for you—it’s for His glory:
• That marriage? It should raise godly seeds.
• That business? It should operate with godly principles.
• That platform? It should preach truth.
Final Thoughts: Don’t Outsource Your Faith
Let’s stop treating God like Amazon Prime and start honoring Him as King.
Here’s the most important thing I can say:
Read the Bible for yourself.
Don’t just only depend on pastors and preachers.
Study. Wrestle. Ask questions. Seek truth. Let the Holy Spirit teach you.
Yeah, it’s not easy at first. But tell me—was algebra easy the first time you saw it? No. You had to sit with it. Work it. Learn it. Same with Scripture.
God isn’t looking for perfect people—He’s looking for surrendered people who are willing to grow and align to his will.
So let’s ask God:
“Lord, what is Your will for my life? Teach me Your ways. I want to live for You—fully, honestly, completely.”
Let’s stop treating God like a delivery system for our desires—and start living to fulfill His will on earth as it is in heaven.
And just so you know—I’m preaching to myself too. None of us are exempt.
But by His grace, we can get it right.
Music time?
Instead, I wanted to share something even more powerful—a short but deeply moving evangelism video that really hit me: Watch here.
It’s a beautiful reminder that evangelism is for everyone—no matter what your past looks like. Let’s stop judging by appearances and start seeing people the way Jesus does. 💛
